What to expect

Woodland paths, water and open space nearby. Choose how far to explore according to your time, experience and the conditions.

Where to start your visit

Longshaw is a useful starting area for a visit to Padley Gorge. Check local signs and current visitor information when you arrive.

Parking

Look for designated Longshaw parking, including Woodcroft. Check the signs for current charges and restrictions. Your parking location will affect how far you need to walk.

Underfoot

Expect uneven woodland ground and changes in level. Wet rocks, roots and paths can be slippery. Check the suitability of your chosen path before setting off with a buggy or anyone with limited mobility.

Make a day of it

Plan a café stop at Longshaw, subject to opening times. Leave time for a drink and a pause rather than trying to fit too much into the visit.

Useful to know

Keep dogs under control and follow local lead requirements. Check facility opening times and any access notices before travelling.
